one of a kind pieces

I find inspiration in the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-sabi*. Over hundreds of years the Japanese have ironically perfected this art of finding beauty in non-perfect states. I am drawn to stones with little inclusions or other “faults,” finding that these give them character.

"look into the depth" ring, wood, 22kt gold, austral. Opal (yowa nut)

"night sky" horn, 18kt gold granules

I am also interested in the tension that is created when precious meets “unprecious.” These unusual pieces combine different materials such as wood, horn, bone, mineral, and metal. They are unique and I am rarely able nor willing to make them twice. Many objects or gems used in these pieces have been collected in my travels and are souvenirs from journeys in different countries.
